Blood Donor Register

Register your pet as a blood donor (for when needed)

Unfortunately there are times when animals need blood transfusions. This can be for a number of reasons; motor vehicle accidents, internal bleeding, severe anaemia, rat bait poisoning, bleeding disorders among other conditions. The nearest animal blood bank is located in Loughborough and is open from 8:30-18:30 on weekdays only, while this is a good resource to have, blood is usually needed in an emergency and even if the Pet Blood Bank is open we still have to wait for a courier to get it to us. For these reasons we have our own blood donor register.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be a very useful and effective means of treatment for certain conditions in may species of animals and has been used at the practice in dogs, cats and rabbits. The most common conditions that acupuncture is used for are those relating to the bones and muscles, these include arthritis, back pain, soft tissue injuries, muscle strains/sprains. It can however be useful in other areas as well such as wound healing.

Cruciate surgery

With the exception of arthritis, cranial cruciate ligament disease is the most common orthopaedic condition we see in the surgery. It is a condition of the ligaments in the stifle (knee) joint and can affect both young and old animals and can present both acutely after a trauma or more chronically.

Unlike arthritis, cruciate damage usually requires a surgical intervention in order to get animals back on their feet.

There are various different types of surgery available to treat cruciate disease.
