About Us
Swanzdale Veterinary Care Centre is a first-opinion Small Animal Practice, found on Scalby Road in Scarborough. The practice was established in January 2000 when Matt Purnell and Trish Johansen took over the existing practice, Hutton and Brinkler, which itself was established on the site in 1965.
Since we opened, we have strived to provide the best level of care that we possibly can in first opinion practice. We have always tried to have good diagnostic equipment, and now have access on-site to ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy and full lab facilities. The continuing development of equipment makes life easier, but ultimately the practice relies on a dedicated team of vets, nurses and receptionists working as hard as they can for the benefit of your pets.
From starting with 2 vets and 2 nurses, we now have 6 vets, 14 nurses, 6 receptionists and 1 insurance administrator. They have a range of skills which means the practice is able to provide quality care for a large range of conditions. We are now fortunate on the Yorkshire Coast to have excellent referral practices within reasonable travel distance.
The practice has three well equipped consulting rooms, separate dog and cat hospital areas, a large ‘prep’ area which is our surgical hub, and a sterile theatre for more complex procedures. We have first-class anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment to make operations as safe as possible.
